What can you scrape from YouTube?
The scraper takes three kinds of input, in any mix:
- Search keywords: the videos YouTube returns for a search, sorted by relevance or popularity, and filtered to today, this week, this month or this year in the bulk API.
- Channels: a channel's latest uploads from its Videos tab, from a channel link or an @handle.
- Video links: watch, youtu.be, Shorts and live links, for the details of videos you already know.
Marketers use it to see what ranks for a keyword, creators to study titles and lengths in their niche, and brand teams to track new videos about a product.
What information does each result include?
The bulk API returns one row per video with these fields. The free tool above shows the title, channel, views, likes, comments, length and date from the same row.
| Field | What it contains |
|---|---|
| title / url | The video's title and watch page |
| viewCount / likeCount | Exact view and like counts |
| commentCount | Comment count, rounded as YouTube shows it |
| duration / durationSeconds | Video length |
| publishedAt / publishedDateText | Upload date |
| description | The full video description |
| keywords / hashtags / category | Tags and hashtags, when YouTube shows them |
| channelName / channelHandle / channelSubscriberCount | The channel, its @handle and its subscriber count |
| source | The search or channel the video came from and its rank there |
Need data on hundreds of YouTube videos?
The free tool above returns 10 videos for one search, channel or link. For keyword research, competitor tracking or brand monitoring, the YouTube Scraper on Apify runs many searches and channels at once and returns one row per video with its description and tags, which you can export or pull through the API.
Scrape thousands of videos at $3 per 1,000Frequently asked questions
Is this YouTube scraper free?
Yes. Searches on this page are free and return up to 10 videos, with a small daily limit per visitor. Bulk runs go through the YouTube Scraper on Apify at $3 per 1,000 videos on Apify's Free plan, or $2.10 per 1,000 on Gold and above. Search pages and unavailable videos cost nothing.
Where does the data come from?
From YouTube's public pages: search results, each channel's Videos tab, and each video's watch page. The scraper reads what YouTube shows to anyone who is signed out. It needs no YouTube account or API key and never signs in.
How exact are the numbers?
Views and likes are exact counts. Comment and subscriber counts are rounded the way YouTube displays them, such as 2.4M. Views are empty while a video is live.
Why are tags or the category sometimes missing?
YouTube leaves part of each watch page out when it serves the page to automated visitors, and the tags and category are in that part. Titles, views, likes, comments, dates, descriptions and channel details are on every page and are always filled.
Is it legal to scrape YouTube?
The scraper collects only publicly visible video and channel information. YouTube's terms restrict automated access, so check that your use complies with the terms and laws that apply to you. You are responsible for how you use the results.
How do I scrape YouTube in bulk?
Use the YouTube Scraper on Apify at apify.com/jaybird/youtube-scraper. Add keywords, channels or video links, set how many videos you want from each, and download the results as Excel, CSV or JSON, or pull them through the Apify API from a script, a spreadsheet or your own application.
